Three tours and 51 stages make the Allgäu hiking trilogy as diverse as unique. The Tannheimer Tal has always been located on the Tyrolean side, but the trail also runs here. The hikers can look forward to rewarding and diverse hikes in your summer holidays.
Wiesengänger (“meadow walker”), Wasserläufer (“water runner”) & Himmelsstürmer (“heaven hotspur”) are the names of the three hiking tours and they say a lot about the stages. With a total of almost 900km of signposted tours you are spoilt for choice here. By the way, many of the tours – especially in the beautiful Alpine foreland and directly in the Alps – are reachable within only 45 minutes.
Wiesengänger – enjoy meadows in Allgäu
Lush meadows, gently rolling but never too hilly: this is how you would imagine most parts of Allgäu and that is exactly what it looks like in reality. If you want to enjoy a comfortable hike, experience stories and history along the way and if for you indulgence always comes first, then this 23 stages are perfect for you. These stages are also very suitable for families.
Wasserläufer – forests, brooks, lakes & adventure
A bit more challenging and also more diverse are the 30 “Wasserläufer” stages: in the Allgäu Alpine foreland you walk through valleys, ravines, along the water and to some of the country's most beautiful lakes. Make sure to always have sturdy shoes and a fully packed hiking backpack with you.
Himmelsstrürmer – up on the mountains
The “Himmelsstürmer” stages lead you up the mountains and to the Tannheim Tal. From a geological perspective these mountains around your holiday resort belong to the Allgäu Alps. Some of the stages run all the way up to the mountains and require a certain level of stamina and sure-footedness, but are not only reserved for pros. In the Tannheimer Tal you will for example find stages from Schattwald to Tannheim and form there further to Bad Kissinger Hut.
