Arriving in the Tannheimer Valley by car
Even getting to the Hotel Sägerhof is an adventure. There are lots of different ways to get to Tannheimer Valley. What is particularly good - you can get to the Hotel Sägerhof without an Austrian car tax disc. Even in winter getting here is uncomplicated and stress free since you don’t have to reckon on the danger of avalanches or blocked roads in winter.
Coming from Germany you have two options to get to the Hotel Sägerhof in Tannheim. For the first variant you take the A7 via Ulm and Kempten in the Allgäu to the exit at Oy. Keep going towards Oberjoch in the Allgäu and then turn left into Tannheimer Valley. After Schattwald and Zöblen you will get to Tannheim just before Grän and Haldensee.
The second variant goes from Munich via the motorway to Garmisch Partenkirchen. There you travel towards Ehrwald and via Reutte in Tirol you get to Weißenbach am Lech. There you turn right into Tannheimer Valley. After Nesselwängle, Haldensee and Grän you get to Tannheim just before Zöblen and Schattwald.
Coming from Switzerland you go via St. Margarethen to Austria. Via Hard, Lauterach, Langen after Weiler in Allgäu and after Immenstadt in the Allgäu. Your journey takes you via Sonthofen in the Allgäu and Bad Hindelang to Oberjoch. There you turn right into the Tannheimer Valley. After Schattwald and Zöblen you reach Tannheim just before Grän and Haldensee.
Coming from the East or the South you keep heading towards Innsbruck. You travel further via the motorway or the toll-free road to Mötz. There you travel via the Fernpass to the Tirol Zugspitzgebiet to Reutte in Tirol and further on to Weißenbach am Lech. There you turn right into Tannheimer Valley. After Nesselwängle, Haldensee and Grän you reach Tannheim just before Zöblen and Schattwald.

Your journey by car takes you via some wonderful roads in the Alps. Even in winter the roads are also safe to drive and are cleared.
